Welcome

Welcome to the "OFFICIAL" Soul Purpose Quartet website!  Thank you for taking the time to check us out.

For over 60 years Soul Purpose has faithfully served our Lord in carrying the Gospel to many lost and hurting souls across the country.  Throughout the years God has graciously blessed our efforts with many things and we are tremendously grateful.  We have seen several of our recorded songs reach No. 1 on a few charts.  We have each been inducted into the Kentucky Colonels.  We have been specially recognized by Heads of State and even nominated by our fans in Singing News Magazine as one of the Top 10 Favorite Traditional Quartets in the nation. Truly all of those things are amazingly wonderful things, but none of it compares to the blessings we have received from seeing lives transformed by the Power of God in a Spirit-filled service.  Soul Purpose has ALWAYS shared that “Your Soul is Our Purpose”.  That is what has always mattered more than anything else to us.  In the last 60+ years, we have rejoiced with those who have received answered prayers or received miraculous healings, prayed earnestly with those who desperately needed to hear from the Lord and have even been bedside with loved ones have gone home to be with Jesus...including of two of our own (our former pianist/Judy’s mother, Wanda Castle, and our baritone singer/Judy Clapsaddle).

After several years of prayer and after discussion as a group we decided it is in the will of the Lord for us to come off the road and retire as a traveling group.  There is absolutely no ill will amongst any of us.  It is simply time to turn the page and start a new chapter.  Everyone in our group still loves each other very much and remains the very best of friends.  We have ALL been needed more at home and needed to follow God’s lead.  Therefore, we have decided that we will limit our appearance to ONE Homecoming concert annually.  Thank you ALL for the many, many years of support and love.  Your love and encouragement throughout the years has been such a tremendous blessing to us.  We pray God’s continued blessings on you!  See you at the Homecoming!!!

JUDY CLAPSADDLE MAKES HER HEAVENLY JOURNEY HOME!

For those who are not already aware, we are deeply saddened yet triumphantly rejoicing to share with you that our beautiful baritone singer, Judy (Castle) Clapsaddle, took hold of her Savior’s hand and was led into Glory in the early morning hours of February 4, 2017 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center while surrounded by her loving family and friends.  Judy suffered an unexpected, immediate and severe health event which resulted in severe sepsis where her body was unable to recover.  She put up a great fight for two weeks after the event, but God saw fit to call her Home to sing in His Heavenly choir.

Judy never met a stranger.  In fact, Judy was known to say, “The first time we meet, you’re my friend.  After that, you’re family.”  Family and church meant everything to Judy.  Also known by many who loved her as “Mommaw,” she lived to love people and worked tirelessly to show them the only way to Heaven; through Jesus Christ.  She spent 54 years of her life traveling the country to minister and sing the gospel through her family’s group, Soul Purpose Quartet.  Judy recorded many professional CDs with her family and received several accolades for her servitude in gospel music, but that was never her purpose.  Judy always said, “Your soul is our purpose” and truly, she lived her life to fulfill that purpose.  Judy received commendations over the years from Mayor of Columbus, Michael Coleman; District 23 Representative, Cheryl Grossman and Speaker, William Batchelder of the Ohio House of Representatives; Ohio Governor, John Kasich and Lt. Governor, Mary Taylor; and even received a special commission from Governor of Kentucky, Steven Beshear as a Kentucky Colonel.  As an active member of the First Baptist Church of Grove City and the Alpha & Omega Life Group, she and her husband promoted quarterly southern gospel concerts, in addition to the schedule she kept singing on the road.  Judy always made sure everyone had their tickets to the concerts and maintained contact with all of the churches where the group sang.  Judy was also well known for the numerous families she assisted through the grieving and end-of-life preparation process while working for Hannigan Memorial Co.  She has been laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Columbus, OH.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ministry of Soul Purpose Quartet, P.O. Box 1114, Grove City, Ohio 43123 in Judy’s memory.  Arrangements have been entrusted with THE SPENCE-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, Grove City, Ohio where online condolences may be left at www.spencemillerfuneralhome.com.

As a result of Judy's passing, her daughter Christy Clapsaddle Burkett has agreed to step in and fulfill all scheduled dates as much as possible.  Judy would want the Soul Purpose ministry to continue on and we look forward to sharing God's message through our music as long as he keeps us going down the road.

Judy is now reaping the reward of her many years serving the King by spending her eternity with the One she has sung to countless audiences about for 54 years!  What an amazing testimony her life has been!
